When to call a full-service veterinary hospital

pcvet cat naps are worth it

Mobile, in-home veterinary care is NOT appropriate in all cases.  If your pet is experiencing any of the following, contact a full service animal hospital for care.

  • Major trauma such as being hit by a car
  • Vomiting and unable to keep any food down–these patients need x rays
  • Non-weight-bearing lameness–these patients need x rays
  • Painful mouth–these patients need a comprehensive oral health evaluation and treatment under general anesthesia
  • Lacerations
  • Bulging eye–these patients need to be checked for glaucoma
  • Inability to move hind legs at all
  • Actively having a seizure
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Actively bleeding
  • Dogs that are trying to vomit, but can’t
  • Inability to urinate
  • Patients that are aggressive when strangers come to the home–since we don’t perform sedation and we don’t travel with an assistant, we do not treat these patients due to safety concerns.
